Smokey Steakhouse Cheeseburger

About this recipe:

Our Steakhouse seasoning combined with a half hour smoke on the burger patties will bring your burger night game up a notch!

Ingredients

1 onion, thinly sliced

2 tblsp olive oil

1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

1 large beefsteak tomato, sliced

5 leaves romaine lettuce

5 slices cheddar cheese

8 slices cooked bacon

2 tblsp Spiva Cooking Steakhouse Seasoning

2 pounds ground beef (we love a mixture of chuck, brisket, and short rib)

1/2 cup mayo (we like mayo made with olive oil for this recipe)

2 tblsp ketchup

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp whole grain mustard

5 brioche style buns

Butter, for spreading on buns

Procedure

  1.  Preheat smoker to 200 degrees F with desired pellets.
  2. Put the ground beef in a bowl and form into 5- 6oz patties. You will have a little extra meat leftover. Make patties about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Season each side of the patties with Spiva Cooking Steakhouse Seasoning.
  4. Place burger patties in the smoker for 30 minutes. 
  5. Meanwhile, heat a saute pan over medium low heat with enough olive oil to coat the bottom.
  6. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and caramelized, about 15 minutes. Add the balsamic vinegar and kosher salt to taste. Remove from the heat and reserve.
  7. Make the burger sauce by combining mayo, ketchup, Worcestershire, and whole grain mustard. Set aside.
  8. Slice the buns in half and spread butter on each side. Toast in the oven at a low heat or in a toaster.
  9. Once the burger patties have finished smoking, remove from the heat, and turn up smoker to 500 degrees F.
  10. Return burger patties to the smoker and sear for 3-4 min with the lid closed. Flip, add sliced cheese on top, and sear the bottom side for another 3-4 minutes.
  11. Assemble your epic smoky steakhouse cheeseburger by spreading plenty of sauce on the toasted buns. Add the cooked burger patty, caramelized onions, cooked bacon slices, tomato, and lettuce. Enjoy!
